Indeed, it is official that Jason House has taken on the role of the New Mayor, and he has committed to enhancing transparency following a period during which the village faced serious allegations of financial mismanagement under Tiffany Henyard's administration.
In April 2024, the FBI issued subpoenas to Dolton Village due to corruption allegations, prompting an investigation into Henyard's term. The Dolton trustees made the decision to engage former Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot, who uncovered that the village's financial status deteriorated from a $5.6M surplus to over a $3.6M deficit. Additionally, village credit cards were charged with more than $779,000, and vendors were owed over $5M in back pay.
